Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 September 2026. Applies to RadioCheck 0.9.17 for Mac and to this website.

The short version. RadioCheck runs on your own Mac. Your telemetry, recordings, settings and voice stay there, and we never receive them. There are no user accounts, no advertising and no tracking, and we sell nothing about you.

Some optional features send data to services that you choose and set up yourself, such as an AI provider or Discord. This page lists every connection the app makes. On this website, the only personal data we keep is your email address, if you join the beta list.

1. Who is responsible

RadioCheck is an independent project run by Rubén Martínez López, an individual based in Spain, who is the controller of the personal data processed through this website. For anything in this policy, including requests about your data, write to [email protected].

What the app stores stays on your Mac, under your control, and we do not receive it. When you connect the app to a service with your own account, such as an AI provider or Discord, that service handles the data under its own terms and privacy policy.

2. The app

What stays on your Mac

  • Telemetry received from your PlayStation 5 while you drive, and session recordings of it. Recordings are made automatically, use at most 3 GB, and the oldest are deleted first when that limit is reached.
  • Your lap history, lap traces and the circuit data the app builds from your laps.
  • Your settings: driver name, PS5 address, language, units, voice options and, if you use Discord and pick a driver in Settings, that driver's Discord user ID.
  • Credentials you enter, such as an API key or a Discord bot token. They are saved in a settings file in the app's data folder on your Mac, not in the macOS Keychain, and are never sent to us.
  • Short audio clips of what you say to Alan. They are temporary: each clip is deleted as soon as it has been processed. No audio is kept.
  • Diagnostic logs. They may include the text of your voice commands and of Alan's messages. Their size is limited and older entries are overwritten.

All of this lives in ~/Library/Application Support/RadioCheck, or in the folder you chose in Settings > Storage. You can delete recordings and history in Settings > Storage, and delete everything by removing that folder and dragging the app to the Trash. If you downloaded a Whisper speech model, it is stored in ~/.cache/huggingface.

Connections the app makes

RadioCheck is not fully offline, and we would rather be precise than vague about it. These are all of them:

ConnectionWhenWhat is sent
Your PlayStation 5 Whenever the app is running Nothing leaves your home network. The app listens to the telemetry your console already broadcasts.
Your other devices Only if you turn on "Allow devices on my network" in Settings A phone or tablet on your home network can open the app's screens with a private link. This traffic stays on your home network.
Google Fonts (versions up to 0.9.20 only) Each time one of the app's screens opens Versions up to 0.9.20 load the screens' typefaces from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which receive your IP address and browser details under Google's privacy policy. Nothing else is sent. Later versions carry their typefaces inside the app and make no connection for them.
radiocheckapp.com When the app starts A request for the latest version number. It carries no account, no identifier, no version number and no information about your Mac. Our site adds one to a daily count of app launches and stores nothing else about the request (see section 3). The app compares versions on your Mac and never downloads or installs anything by itself.
Hugging Face During setup, and when you choose the Whisper speech engine Download requests for Alan's voice in your language and, if you chose it, the Whisper speech recognition model. No personal data is sent beyond the IP address that any download reveals.
Apple speech recognition When you give a voice command with the Apple engine, the default Recognition runs on your Mac when your Mac and your language support it. When they do not, macOS sends the audio of the command to Apple to be recognised, under Apple's privacy policy. The Whisper engine, which you can choose in Settings > Microphone, runs on your Mac.
Discord Only if you set up your own Discord bot Your bot joins a voice channel in your own server. Alan's voice is sent through Discord, and the app receives the channel's audio from Discord. It only processes the voice of the driver: the only person in the voice channel with Alan or, with more people there, the one who was driving alone or the one picked in Settings; audio that Discord attributes to anyone else is discarded. Your voice is transcribed with the engine you chose (see the row above) and, if you turned on the online features, as described under OpenAI below. No audio is recorded or kept. Discord carries the audio under its own terms and privacy policy. If another driver uses RadioCheck with you, please tell them their voice is processed while they speak to Alan.
OpenAI (voice features) Only if you turn off "Offline commands only" in Settings > Microphone and add an OpenAI key. Both are off by default. When you ask Alan a question that is not one of the listed commands, the text of your question is sent together with current race data, such as track, lap, speed, gear, fuel, lap times and tyre temperatures. With the Whisper engine, a command that was not understood on your Mac is also sent as an audio clip to be transcribed again. OpenAI, based in the United States, processes this under its own terms and privacy policy, billed to your OpenAI account. Race decisions are always computed on your Mac from telemetry, never by a third party.
AI provider for Car Tuning Only when you press "Analyse Setup" in Car Tuning, with a key you added in Settings The setup screenshots you add and the driving style, handling issue and track type you choose, sent to the provider you selected in Settings, under its own terms and privacy policy and your account. See the list of providers below.

AI providers you can choose for Car Tuning

Where each provider processes data, according to its own public policies:

  • OpenAI (the default): United States.
  • Anthropic (Claude): United States.
  • Google Gemini: Google's global infrastructure. For users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Google's terms say it does not use your prompts or images to improve its products, even on the free tier.
  • OpenRouter: United States. OpenRouter forwards your request to the company that runs the model (by default, OpenAI), whose own policy then applies.
  • DeepSeek: DeepSeek's privacy policy states that it processes and stores personal data in the People's Republic of China.
  • Custom: whatever server address you enter; its operator's policy applies.

Screenshots of the GT7 setup screen do not normally contain personal data. Avoid adding images that do.

Crash reports

Today, nothing is sent. When RadioCheck hits a problem it writes a log file on your Mac and that is all. Nothing about the failure reaches us unless you choose to send it yourself.

If we ever add a way to report crashes from inside the app, it will be optional and asked every time, you will see the contents before anything leaves, and it will never include your recordings, your credentials or your voice. We will update this page before that ships, not after.

What the app never does

  • No user accounts and no login.
  • No advertising, no tracking, and no analytics that identify you. The only figure we see from the app is the daily count of launches described above.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of your data. We do not receive it, so we have nothing to sell.

3. The website

This site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks and automated traffic. For that protection, Cloudflare may place one strictly necessary security cookie (cf_clearance). We set no cookies of our own, we use no analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not profile visitors, which is why you are not asked to accept anything. Cloudflare shows us aggregate traffic figures that do not identify you.

The pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when you open them, under Google's privacy policy.

We keep simple counters: downloads per day and per version, app launches per day (see section 2), and how many times per day the site asks for the latest version. They contain no IP address, no browser details, no location and no identifier, and we keep them for as long as the site exists.

The beta list

If you give us your email address for the beta list, we store it together with the language of the page and the date you signed up, in Cloudflare's storage. To limit abuse, we also keep a one-way hash of your IP address for 10 minutes; the address itself is never stored. We use your email for one thing: to write to you about RadioCheck. We do not sell it or pass it to anyone else. If we start using an email delivery service to send the messages, we will name it on this page first.

To be removed from the list, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with, and we will delete it. We keep your address until you ask us to remove it or we close the list, whichever comes first.

Legal bases and transfers

We process your email address with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We host, protect and count visits to the site on the basis of our legitimate interest in running it securely. Cloudflare acts as our processor; it may transfer data outside the European Union, and it relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses to do so.

4. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, a copy of it, and restriction of its processing; you can object to its processing and withdraw your consent at any time. In practice the only personal data we hold is a beta-list email address, so in most cases the answer to "what do you have on me?" is "nothing, unless you signed up". Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD).

For data that an AI provider, Discord, Apple or Google processes when you use their services, contact that company directly.

5. Children

RadioCheck is not directed at children under 14, and the beta list is for people aged 14 or older. We do not knowingly collect children's data.

6. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and change the date at the top. If you are on the beta list, we will email you.
